The whole system

A network layer for apps that would rather not have a central server.

VeilKnit is an experimental layer built on Veilid. A background Daemon handles the networking work, while apps such as Weave and Rooms focus on the experience you actually use.

Everything here is early / pre-alpha software.

How the pieces fit together

Instead of every app separately becoming its own short-lived network node, the VeilKnit Daemon stays available in the background and provides a shared bridge to Veilid.

Why split the network from the apps?

One longer-running node can be more useful to a decentralized network than several apps that appear for a few seconds and vanish.

Apps get a simpler local API instead of each one having to implement every Veilid detail itself.

The same identity, routing and supporting services can be reused across multiple VeilKnit apps.

The architecture can evolve in one place while apps remain focused on their own interface and purpose.
